Play is a powerful thing. It fires up the imagination, forms cognitive connections, and it’s a chance to let go and just have fun.
When Sears needed a rallying cry for their new Toy Shop, Real Art saw the opportunity to build on their reputation for expertise and quality in a new way: Sears could lead the industry as the advocates of play. We laid out a mantra for the initiative – play more.
In 2012, Real Art took skateboarding fans on a global treasure hunt, hosted a BA online robotic battle and spotlighted a sporting tradition from center court. That’s a good year in our book…and the American Advertising Federation (AAF) agreed with us.
Real Art Dayton stepped out this past weekend for the annual AAF ADDY awards, at which the highest honor you can receive is the Gold ADDY – a sculpted Hermes head, curly hair and all. Real Art had 22 pieces in 15 categories in the show. At the end of the night, we walked away with 6 Gold Addys, a Judges’ Award, and Best of Show. You can check out the work below.
Of course none of this would have been possible without our awesome clients who inspire us to create these groundbreaking projects. Thank you!

The Hermes Awards were this past weekend and, as always, AAF Dayton and Dayton Creative Syndicate put on a fantastic show. There was some great design and interactive, and we were honored to be included in all the wonderful work that’s happening here in Dayton.
From the traditional print ads and brochures to the not-so-traditional custom-painted mixers, Real Art was recognized with 6 gold awards, 11 silver awards, 13 bronze awards, 2 judges awards and the “best of show” award.

We pumped up the jams and ended the night with a marathon dance party. While we were celebrating, we let the Ro-Bros out of their underground lair for one last go-round.
Go ahead and finish singing that catchy little tune in your head…
Now for the important news. Not one but FOUR of our projects are advancing to the ADDY® Awards national competition.
As you might remember, we snagged a few Hermes awards at our local ADDY competition back in February. Six of our projects won gold and advanced to the next level.
Those six projects were recently judged at the AAF District 5 competition, which includes work from affiliate advertising clubs and federations in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. We competed against 584 fabulous entries from 10 different Ad Clubs, and only 45 Gold awards were awarded.
We earned gold ADDYs for the following projects:
Cincinnati Children’s 2010 Annual Report
Motozuma Penny Wall
Real Mart Website
Ford Interceptor Website
The next round of judging takes place June 4, 2011, at the National Awards Show and Gala, so stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed!
