Pity the museum donor wall. Surrounded by beautiful works of art, yet visually dull. Hundreds of names that thousands of people pass by without ever reading. Don’t our modern-day Medicis deserve better?
When the Dayton Art Institute asked us to redesign theirs, we saw an opportunity to elevate this humble list of names into a new work of art—a space to tell the history of the museum itself in a beautiful and meaningful way.
We did it by creating a 30-foot wall graphic with a rolling touchscreen. An interactive timeline and permanent addition to the museum that showcases each donor’s contribution intertwined with the evolution of the collection itself.
